Kalypso Line service disruption continues

Kalypso Compagnia di Navigazione's (KCN) Marco Polo service connecting China-Bangladesh-Med that has been disrupted by the Hamas-Israel conflict has finally made its first cargo discharge in the Med since 17 October 2023. The 2,518 teu ZHONG GU XIONG AN berthed at Taranto on 13 December 2023 and completed its cargo discharge on 23 December. Maersk adds Tunis-Cagliari feeder

Maersk has launched a new Tunis Cagliari feeder service using roro ships connecting Cagliari, Tunis (Rades), Cagliari. The service was launched on 11 November 2023 with the 11,630 dwt roro cargo ship WEDELLSBORG that was previously operated by Italian carrier Grupo Grendi on the domestic Cagliari-Carrara Marine Cagliari line service. The WEDELLSBORG is able to carry up to 773 teu of containers. The new feeder service calls at the Tunis-Rades Terminal and the Grendi Trasporti Marittimi Terminal

CMA CGM launch NAMEX service connecting North America East Coast with Morocco

CMA CGM will launch a new North America-Morocco Express (NAMEX) service connecting Tanger Med, Halifax, New York, Philadelphia, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah, Tanger Med from 9 January 2024. The seasonal service is aimed at the exports of fruit and vegetables from Morocco to North America. It will be operated as part of CMA CGM's Columbus JAX (CJX) service with the addition of new calls at Tanger Med as well as Philadephia. Hapag-Lloyd adds Thailand Singapore Express (TSX)

Hapag-Lloyd has added a new Thailand Singapore Express (TSX) service from 13 November 2023 calling at Laem Chabang, Singapore, Laem Chabang with the 2,783 teu ATHENA. The service will feeder connections Hapag-Lloyd to replace the Asia-Europe FE5 service calling Laem Chabang, Cai Mep, Singapore, Colombo, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, London Gateway, Jeddah, Singapore, Laem Chabang that was withdrawn with the last westbound sailing at Laem Chabang on 7 November 2023 by the 14,078 YM WREATH.

SITC launch CJV7 service

SITC will launch a new China Japan Vietnam 7 (CJV7) service from 22 December 2023 to call at Ningbo, Shanghai, Hakata, Moji, Tokuyama Kudamatsu, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Danang, Haiphong, Ningbo. The service will turn in 3 weeks and will deploy 3 ships - the 907 teu SITC TIANJIN, 1,011 teu SITC SHIDAO and 1,403 teu SITC QINZHOU.

Zim hikes rates on Asia–Mediterranean ZMP service after ships rerouted to Cape route

Zim has announced higher rates for its Asia-Med Zim Med Premium (ZMP) service that has been rerouted to the Cape route from its regular Suez routing from December 2023 in order to avoid the Houthi attacks on ships using the Red Sea passage. The lengthened ZMP routing will raise the total roundtrip time to 15 weeks compared to 10 weeks previously. MSC upgrades Jaguar transpacific service to 19,000 teu scale with ships redeployed from Suez routes

MSC has upgraded its FE-US West Coast Jaguar service to the 19,000 teu scale with ships that have been redeployed from the Asia-Europe routes due to their Israeli links. The Jaguar service calls at Nansha, Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Long Beach, Busan, Nansha and used ships of 13,000 to 19,000 teu previously. Since the Hamas-Israel conflict started in October and attacks on vessel traffic on the Red Sea has escalated in recent weeks, MSC has shifted 6 ships of 16,500-19,500 teu owned by Zodiac

ONE and Hai An to launch Vietnam Singapore feeder service

ONE and Hai An will launch a new jointly operated Vietnam Singapore Express (VSX) service from 4 January 2024 calling at Haiphong, Cai Mep, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Haiphong. The weekly service will turn in 2 weeks using the 1,577 teu HAIAN VIEW and 1,708 teu HAIAN ROSE, with each partner to operate one ship each with ONE to charter the HAIAN VIEW from Hai An for the service.

COSCO and OOCL join CNC in upgraded KCS and CHN1 service

COSCO and OOCL will join CNC, the intra-Asia arm of CMA CGM, in a new intra-Asia partnership involving 2 existing services operated by CNC that will both be upgraded to the 6,000-7,000 teu scale. The first service involves the existing CNC Korea China Straits Service (KCS) that calls at Xingang, Dalian, Lianyungang, Qingdao, Singapore, Jakarta, Surabaya, Manila, Xingang. ONE and Samudera add Straits India Gulf (SIG) service

Samudera will be a vessel operating partner with ONE on the Southeast Asia to India and Gulf/Straits India Gulf (SIG) service that was launched on 16 November 2023. The SIG service calls at Singapore, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Dammam, Jebel Ali, Cochin, Colombo, Singapore using 4 ships of 2,500-2,800 teu on a 28 day rotation, of which Samudera will contribute the 2,824 teu MONACO, that will operate alongside 3 ships operated by ONE (2,542 teu SAFEEN PRISM, 2,664 teu NYK ISABEL and 2,824 teu MONACO).
