Vuxx Shipping will launch a new China-Baltic service connecting Shanghai, Ningbo, Nanasha, Damietta, Kaliningrad, St Petersburg, Damietta, Shanghai from 2 August 2025. The service will turn in 12 weeks and will deploy up to 6 ships of 1,500 to 2,500 teu. Vuxx Shipping took over the Russia related shipping business of Reel Shipping in August 2024 and currently serves the China-Baltic route by transhipment at Damietta and Casablanca.
The 8,204 teu MSC BILBAO and MSC VALENCIA that have been detained at Malta since 2022 are due to be released after both ships were transferred out of Russian ownership. The 2 ships are owned by interests linked to the GTLK-Joint Stock Company State Transportation Leasing Company that have been placed under the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Russia-related sanctions since 2022. Vuxx Shipping has launched a new South America-West Russia (LAM-RU) service connecting Paranagua, Itapoa, Santos, Rio Grande, Kaliningrad, St Petersburg, Paranagua from 23 June 2025. The service will turn in 8 weeks and will deploy 4 ships of 1,700 to 1,900 teu on a fortnightly frequency starting with the 1,906 teu AEOLUS at Paranagua on 23 June, followed by the 1,730 teu DHANU on 7 July and 1,679 teu MUARA on 21 July, with a 4th ship that has not yet been named.
CK Line has launched a new Busan Russia Express (BRX) service connecting Busan, Vladivostok, Busan from 4 April 2025 using the 679 teu XING LUO 7.
MSC has restarted the Sunrise service connecting Busan, Vostochny, Busan from 6 January 2025 deploying the 1,121 teu MSC KANU F and 1,118 teu MSC FORTUNE F. The service will replace the previous call at Vostochny on the Golden Horn service that has been dropped. The revised Golden Horn service calls at Shanghai, Ningbo, Rizhao, Vladivostok, Busan, Shanghai from January 2025.
Newly established STF Shipping has launched 3 new China-Russia Far East service since August 2024, taking over CStar Line's services on this route. According to the company, STF stands for Safety, Timeliness and Flexibility and it has established its headoffice in Shanghai, with agency offices in Ningbo, Seoul, Vladivostok and Nakhodka. Transit Line will add the 1,930 teu TRANSIT TAVAYZA to its Far East-Turkey-St Petersburg (FETLED) service from 29 September 2024, joining the 2,472 teu MYD JIMEI that has been deployed on the same service since May 2024. At least 2 carriers operating on the China-Baltic Russia route have suffered financial troubles. The 2,472 teu MYD JIMEI operated by Global Field Line (GFL) is currently stranded in the Baltics. In a letter to GFL customers dated 25 January 2024, the carrier requested for an additional payment of $3000/20' and $5000/40' to allow the company to settle outstanding payments to its local agent and port operator.
