PIL confirms order for 4 new 14,400 teu ships

PIL has confirmed an order for 4 new ships of 14,400 teu at Jiangnan Shipyard Group on 4 March 2022, its first new ship order since 2015. The 4 ships will be quipped with dual-fuel engines to run on both LNG and low sulphur fuel oil and will be delivered from the 2nd half of 2024 to 1st half 2025. PIL has announced that it will cease to use the Advance Container Line (ACL) brand name from 15 March 2022. ACL was established in 1995 by PIL to provide container feeder services in Southeast Asia and Indian sub-continent. PIL, TS Lines, Yang Ming and SeaLead Shipping will jointly launch a new service connecting China and Australia that will connect Qingdao, Shanghai, Nansha, Shekou, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Qingdao. The service is branded as the Sino Australia Express (SAE) by PIL and China-Australia 2 (CA2) by Yang Ming.
