Safeen upgrades UAE-India-Gulf UIG service

Safeen Feeders have upgraded its UAE-India-Gulf (UIG) service with the introduction of 3,500 teu ships to the service from July 2023 with the port rotation streamlined to call at Abu Dhabi, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Abu Dhabi, Umm Qasr, Dammam, Abu Dhabi. Calls at Kandla, Hamad and Bahrain that were previously in the UIG rotation have been dropped. PIL launch IR2 service to Yemen

PIL will launch a new Intra-Red Sea Feeder 2 (IR2) service connecting Djibouti, Hodeidah, Djibouti from 29 June 2023 using the 938 teu KOTA RAHMAT. The service complement the Intra-Red Sea Feeder 3 (IR3) service that calls at Djibout, Aden, Djibouti using the 1,802 KOTA HASRAT as part of PIL's moves to broaden its presence in Yemen.

Container Volumes Recover Slightly in May, Led by India and Singapore

Container volumes recovered slightly in May, with flash estimates showing a 1.4% month-on-month increase over April although it is still 1.6% lower compared to the same month last year. Year to date growth remains negative at -1.8% over the first 5 months of the year. The Indian sub-continent was one of the key bright spots with May volumes up 9.8% yoy. The 2 main Indian ports of Mundra and Nhava Sheva both recorded healthy volumes with YTD volume growth reaching 8.0% and 6.3% respectively. S

Maersk to replace ME3/ME4 service with new Al Maha service

Maersk will launch a new Al Maha service from June 2023, replacing its current ME3 and ME4 services. The Al Maha service will call at Tanger Med, Port Said, Jeddah, Salalah, Jebel Ali, Doha, Dammam, Jubail, Jebel Ali, Duqm, Salalah, Jeddah, Port Said, Tanger Med using 7 ships of 8,500 teu. PIL introduces Gulf China Service 2 (GC2) through slots on GALEX

PIL has introduced a new Gulf China Service 2 (GC2) through a slot arrangement with ESL on the Galex service. The service is jointly operated by Emirates Shipping Line (ESL), Global Feeder Shipping (GFS), KMTC and RCL using 7 ships of 6,500-8,500 teu with a full rotation that calls at Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Dachan Bay, Port Klang, Khor Fakkan, Jebel Ali, Sohar, Qingdao, Busan. Milaha and X-Press Feeders are teaming up to launch a new India-UAE-Qatar-Saudi service connecting Jebel Ali, Khalifa Port, Nhava Sheva, Hazira, Mundra, Jebel Ali, Hamad, Dammam, Jebel Ali. The service is branded as the India Middle East X-Press service (IMEX) by X-Press Feeders and it is an extended version of the current Nhava Sheva Doha Express (NDX) operated by Milaha with the addition of new calls at Khalifa, Hazira and Dammam. Feedertech and X-Press Feeders have introduced a new weekly Jebel Ali Red Sea X-Press (JRX) feeder service connecting Jebel Ali, Jeddah, Sokhna, Jeddah, Jebel Ali from 5 February 2023.
