Samskip and Viasea have teamed up to launch a new UK-Rotterdam-Norway Oslofjord service that calls at Rotterdam and Immingham/Tilbury to 6 ports in Norway from 1 March 2024. The service will deploy 4 ships of 500-800 teu, and will offer 3 weekly calls at Oslo, 2 calls at Moss and 1 call at Brevik, Kristiansand, Frederikstad and Larvik. At Rotterdam, the service will call at the multipurpose Martrans terminal.
Samskip will launch a new Spain-United Kingdom-Rotterdam service connecting Rotterdam, Santander, Tilbury, Rotterdam from 2 April 2024 with the 803 teu SAMSKIP EXPRESS. The service will operate on a weekly frequency and is aimed at replacing road-ferry alternatives in the European short-sea route.
COSCO and Evergreen have separately launched emergency loaders to connect North Europe with the Med port of Piraeus to evacuate containers and provide ad hoc connections for cargo to and from the Med region that have been affected by the diversions of the OCEAN Alliance's Asia-North Europe services to the Cape route. Roro specialist CLdN has launched a new Rotterdam-Ireland Lolo service from 18 March 2024 calling at Rotterdam, Dublin, Cork, Rotterdam. The new service will provide 2 sailings per week using 2 newly chartered 962 teu ships - ANDROMEDA J and PAVO J. The service will call CLdN's newly acquired Distriport terminal in Rotterdam with sailings departing Rotterda every Thursday and Saturday to complement CLdN's existing Roro services between the Netherlands, UK and Ireland.
ONE will launch a new Scandinavia Baltic Express (SBX) from 19 May 2024 calling at Wilhelmshaven, Hamburg, Fredericia, Gdynia, Wilhelmshaven. The service will turn on a weekly basis using one ship that will be named closer to the launch date in May. In conjunection to the SBX launch, ONE will also revise the rotation of its IBESCO/Iberia-Europe-Scandinavia (IBC) service with the current call at Gdynia dropped while adding new calls at Copenhagen and Helsingborg. Samskip has added a second vessel to the Samskip Baltic Sea service with the addition of a new call at Klaipeda and shift its UK call from Hull to Immingham from March 2024. MSC has upgraded its Turkiye-UK West Coast service with the addition of new calls at Portbury and Greenock from 26 January 2024. The upgraded service will call at Piraeus, Izmir, Gebze, Gemlik, Tekirdag, Aliaga, Barcelona, Valencia, Sines, Le Havre, Liverpool, Greenock, Liverpool, Portbury, Le Havre, Valencia, Barcelona, Malta, Piraeus. The service turns in 7 weeks and deploys 7 ships of 4,200-5,100 teu.
Tailwind Shipping has launched a new Moerdijk-Barcelona feeder service with the 804 teu SOLONG deployed since 29 December 2023. The service turns in around 16 days.
Samskip has launched a new Baltic Sea - Finland/Latvia service from 7 November 2023 to connect Helsinki, Riga, Hull, Rotterdam, Helsinki. The service turns n 2 weeks using 2 ships of 500 teu. The service was initiated at Helsinki on 7 November with the 366 teu ORION for a single trip before being replaced by the 509 teu BF CARTAGENA and 508 teu DORNBUSCH.
Boluda Lines and Samskip have jointly launched a new Spain-Ireland-UK service connecting Santander, Dublin, Liverpool, Santander using the 803 teu LUCIA B from 29 September 2023. The service turns in 1 week using a single ship from Boluda, with Samskip taking slots. In northern Spain, the service will call at Boluda Maritime Terminals Santander that was opened by Boluda in April 2023 at a total cost of €40 m with a capacity of 110,000 teu a year.
