CMA CGM has announced the launch of the new MOCANA service connecting Morocco to North America. The service will be offered as a leg of the OCEAN Alliance's Columbus JAX service with the addition of 2 calls at Tanger Med on the Atlantic leg of the USEC-FE-USWC pendulum service. The main carriers’ average EBIT margins fell by 3.4% from the 2Q peak of 54.3% to 50.9%. However, the gap between individual carriers are widening, with some notable drops at Wan Hai (down 13.0%), OOCL (down 8.3%), HMM (down 6.8%) and Yang Ming (down 6.1%). Carriers with a larger share on the Asia-US West Coast have suffered the largest margin erosion, with a sharper drop expected in 4Q 2022 as the rate malaise has spread to other tradelanes.
On 25 Nov, CMA CGM reported 3Q earnings which was down 7% QoQ driven by 3% QoQ lower freight rates and 9% QoQ higher OPEX. Main delta for OPEX increase are fuel and chartering expenses. CNC Line, the intra-Asian subsidiary of CMA CGM, has launched a new China Southeast Asia (CSE1) service that connects Dalian, Incheon, Ningbo, Shanghai, Laem Chabang, Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Manila, Quinhon, Chu Lai, Dalian The service started on 11 October 2022 with the 1,756 teu CNC PLUTO from Dalian. 4 ships of 1,012-1,952 teu are deployed on this service.
CMA CGM is launching Manaus Shuttle that will call Cartagena (Col), Manzanillo (Pan), Macapa, Manaus, Macapa, Vila do Conde, Cartagena (Col) on 28 days round trip. The service will start with 2,564 teu CMA CGM PEMBA at Cartagena on Dec 2. These five ships currently deployed to Brazil Express and Brazil Express 2 have been assigned to this new service: 2,564 teu CMA CGM PEMBA, 2,556 teu CMA CGM PUERTO ANTIOQUIA, 2,546 teu BALLENITA, 3,534 teu BOMAR PRAIA, 3,091 teu LUTETIA.

CMA CGM will launch a new Americas XL service that will connect Callao, San Antonio, Guayaquil, Cartagena, Port Everglades, Philadelphia, New York, Kingston, Buenaventura, Callao from 20 December 2022. Containerships, the European short sea subsidiary of CMA CGM, has launched the Sweden Express 2 (SWX2) connecting Bremerhaven, Gavle, Gdansk, Gdynia, Klaipeda, Norrkoping, Rauma, Wilhelmshaven, Bremerhaven. The new service will turn in 2 weeks using 2 ships of 907 teu, LINDA and AILA, both previously were deployed in the Intra-Northern European routes. The service will start with LINDA at Bremerhaven on 27 October.
COSCO will join CMA CGM on the MedGulf Service that calls at Genoa, Valencia, Miami, Veracruz, Altamira, Houston, Tanger Med, Genoa. COSCO will add one of the six ships of 2,000-3,000 teu on this new service that is hitherto operated independently by CMA CGM.
