RCL and CNC launch Yangon Cambodia Express (YGX)

RCL has teamed up with CMA CGM's intra-Asia carrier, CNC, to launch a new Yangon Cambodia Express (YGX) service that connects Singapore, Port Klang, Yangon, Port Klang, Singapore, Sihanoukville, Singapore from 3 January 2023. The service will deploy 3 ships on a 21 day rotation, starting with the 1,060 teu GREEN PACIFIC from CNC and followed by 2 more ships from RCL - the 928 teu NITHI BHUM and 1,118 teu OTANA BHUM.

MSC revises NWC to South Africa port rotation

MSC will revise the port rotation on its Northwest Continent to South Africa (NWC to South Africa) service with no additional ports added and the double call at Cape Town is dropped in order to enhance schedule reliability. The revised rotation will start from 9 January 2023 to call at Rotterdam, London Gateway, Antwerp, Hamburg, Le Havre, Sines, Las Palmas, Ngqura, Durban, Cape Town, Las Palmas, Rotterdam compared to the previous rotation that called London Gateway, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp

Zim/GSL launch new Thailand Fremantle Express (TFX)

Zim/Gold Star Line (GSL) will launch a new Thailand Fremantle Express service from January 2023. The service will call at Ho Chi Minh City, Laem Chabang, Port Klang, Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle, Port Klang, Ho Chi Minh City using 5 to 6 ships of 1,700-2,600 teu on a 42 day rotation starting with the 2,450 teu GSL AFRICA at Laem Chabang on 4 January 2023.

ESL to lauch 2 Indonesia feeder services through slots on RCL

Emirates Shipping Line (ESL) will launch 2 services connecting its Southeast Asia hub of Port Klang with the Indonesian ports of Jakarta and Surabaya in January 2023. The JKT service connecting Port Klang, Jakarta, Port Klang will start on 6 January 2023 and the SUB service connecting Port Klang, Surabaya, Port Klang will start from 8 January 2023. Both of these services are offered through a slot arrangement with RCL who are operating the feeder services as part of its ASEAN feeders network.

The Middle East Gulf-China service that is jointly operated by a consortium of 6 carriers (PIL/CUL/ESL/KMTC/RCL/Wan Hai) will be upgraded from 9 January 2023 with new calls at Hamad and Singapore (westbound). The revised rotation will call at Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Shekou, Singapore, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Hamad, Singapore, Shanghai. HMM and NYK Bulk & Projects team up on FE-ME MPV service

HMM and NYK Bulk & Projects (NBP) have signed a collaboration agreement on 19 December 2022 to jointly operate a weekly break-bulk liner service between the Far East and Middle East. HMM currently operates 4 owned mpp ships of 30,100 dwt/1,888 teu equipped with 2 heavy-lift cranes of 320 tons that can be combined to lift 640 tons. It also charters in 1 to 2 heavy lift ships from AAL from a cooperation arrangement concluded in 2018. These mpp ships are mostly deployed on the Middle East route,

THE Alliance re-directs 3 Asia-Europe backhaul services to the Cape route

THE Alliance carriers (Hapag-Lloyd, HMM, ONE and Yang Ming) have re-directed ships on 3 of their 5 Asia-North Europe services to take the longer route back to Asia via the Cape of Good Hope from week 47 as carriers begin to take capacity management measures to deal with the collapse in Asia Europe freight rates. The affected services are the FE2, FE3 and FE4 with all ships on these services that are departing from Europe from the end of November 2022 being diverted from their usual Suez route

Ellerman launch USA Express transatlantic service as Asia-Europe service is downgraded

Ellerman has launched a new USA Express transatlantic service that connects Antwerp, Rotterdam, Tilbury, New York, Wilmington, Jacksonville, Antwerp starting from 12 December 2022. The service turns in 4 weeks and will initially deploy 2 ships offering sailings on a fortnightly frequency. The 3,534 teu MONA LISA departed from Antwerp on 12 December and will be followed by the 5,060 teu SC MARA on 26 December 2022. Both of these ships are redeployed from Ellerman's current GB Express service

CU Lines add China Thailand Service (BC1) service

CU Lines has joined RCL's Bangkok-Vietnam-China (RBC) service as a ship provider, with the deployment of 1 ship on the service. CUL brands the service as the China Thailand Service (BC1), which will be updated with a new call at Wenzhou starting from 10 January 2023. The revised RBC/BC1 will call at Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh City, Ningbo, Shanghai, Laem Chabang, Bangkok, turning in 3 weeks with 2 ships from RCL (the 1,498 teu JITRA BHUM and ITHA BHUM) and 1 ship from CUL (the 1,930 teu

ESL/PIL adds new South China Philippines (SCP) service

Emirates Shipping Line (ESL) and Pacific International Lines (PIL) will launch a new South China Philippines (SCP) service connecting  Xiamen, Nansha, Shekou, Manila, Cebu, Xiamen from 3 January 2023.
