Zim repositions 6 Bangkokmax ships from Asia/Australia for new LTAM service

Zim is shifting out 6 Bangkok-max ship from its intra-Asia and Australia services for redeployment in the North America-South America ZIM Colibri XPress service. All 6 ships are being repositioned from Asia/Australia to South America and will begin their new employment at San Antonio in Chile. The ZIM Colibri Xpress (ZCX) service connecting San Antonio, Callao, Guayaquil, Cartagena, Kingston, Philadelphia, Miami, Kingston, Buenaventura, Guayaqui, Callao, San Antonio The 6 ships are as follows:

MTT Shipping and VIMC launch Port Klang-Kolkata service

MTT Shipping has joined VIMC to launch a new Port Klang-Kolkata service. The 653 teu MTT SINGAPORE has phased into the service on 21 March 2023 at Port Klang, joining the 610 teu BIENDONG FORTUNE from VIMC that had phased in earlier on 16 March 2023.

Hapag-Lloyd and Feedertech launch Vietnam Indonesia Service (VIS)

Hapag-Lloyd and Feedertech (Unifeeder) have teamed up to introduce a new Vietnam Indonesia Service (VIS) connecting Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Port Klang, Belawan, Penang, Port Klang, Singapore. The service will start from 6 April 2023 and turns in 2 weeks with the 1,781 teu CAT LAI EXPRESS from Hapag-Lloyd and 1,577 teu CELSIUS NEW ORLEANS from Feedertech. Vietnam Indonesia Service (VIS)

ASL discontinues Australia China Express (ACX)

Asean Seas Line (ASL) has withdrawn the Australia China Express (ACX) service after the last ACX ship the 1,930 teu ASL BAUHINIA completed its last sailing on 29 May 2023. Although an ASL representative says the company will continue the ACX service beyond April, the service failedd to continue with the planned deployment of the newbuilding ASL TAIPEI which was redeployed on the Ningbo Philippines (NPX) service from June 2023.

Hapag-Lloyd/Arkas adds Dakar call on West Africa Express (WAX)/Europe Africa Service (EAS)

The North Europe-West Africa service jointly operated by Hapag-Lloyd/Arkas will be expanded to add a new southbound call at Dakar. The service is branded as the West Africa Express (WAX)/Europe Africa Service (EAS) respectively by Hapag-Lloyd and Arkas. The new rotation will start from 7 May 2023 and call at Antwerp, Le Havre, Tanger Med, Dakar, Tema, Abidjan, Tanger Med, Antwerp. The service turns in 4 weeks and deploys 3 ships of 4,250 teu from Hapag-Lloyd and one 2,500 teu ship from Arkas.

Hapag-Lloyd to launch West Africa 1 (WA1) service

Hapag-Lloyd will launch a new West Africa 1 (WA1) service that connects Tanger Med, Nouakchott, Freetown, Conakry, Monrovia, Tanger Med from 15 May 2023. The new service will be operated on a fortnightly frequency and turn in 4 weeks using 2 ships of 1,700 teu.

Transit Line introduces China to St Petersburg service

Russian operator Transit Line has launched a direct China to St Petersburg service on 30 March 2023 with the 2,193 teu XIN LONG YUN 86 which will be the largest ship that the Russian operator has operated so far. The new service will connect Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Nansha, St Petersburg. Only 1 sailing has been advertised so far.

ASL withdraws capacity from Australia China Express (ACX) service

Asean Seas Line has reversed its plans to expand the Australia China Express (ACX) service and have started to remove ships from the loss making service. The 1,730 teu newbuilding ASL PEONY that was originally slated to join the ACX service on 16 March 2023 has been redeployed on the China-Hong Kong-Haiphong 2 service (HHX 2), while the 1,781 teu ASL HONG KONG has also shifted from the ACX to HHX 2 on 25 March 2023. Ruscon & MAS launch Turkey-St Petersburg link

Delo Group's Ruscon has partnered with Mountain Air Shipping (MAS), an international container shipping company based in Dubai, to operate a new liner service connecting Istanbul and St. Petersburg. The first sailing from Turkey was made on 30 January 2023 with the 707 teu SASCO ANIVA. The service will operate monthly and turns in 36 days, with a transit time of 15-17 days between Ambarli (Kumport) and St Petersburg (FCT).
