CMA CGM/COSCO launch Asia Subcontinent Express 2 (AS2)

CMA CGM and COSCO have launched a new Asia Subcontinent Express 2 (AS2) service that connects Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Colombo, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Singapore, Shanghai from 16 November 2023. The AS2 will turn in 5 weeks using 5 ships of 4,200-6,300 teu, of which 4 ships are operated by CMA CGM (4,253 teu DERBY, 5,466 teu CMA CGM LEKKI, 6,350 teu APL MINNESOTA and TBN vessel)and 1 ship is from COSCO (5,085 teu COSCO NEW YORK).

SeaLead introduces MEDSA service

SeaLead has launched a new Mediterranean-South America (MEDSA) service from 12 November 2023 that connects Casablanca, Itapoa, Paranagua, Santos, Casablanca. The first sailing was made by the 1,723 teu GREEN HOPE that departed from Casablanca on 13 November and arrived in Santos on 29 November. The service will turn in 5 weeks and will initially operate on a monthly frequency with only 1 ship with more ships to be added subsequently. Relay connections will be offered at Casablanca to Barcelona

Maersk launch SE8 service

Maersk has launched a new intra-Asia SE8 service connecting Jakarta, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Klang, Haiphong, Qinzhou, Port Klang, Singapore, Jakarta from 8 Novmber 2023. The service turns in 3 weeks and deploys ships of 1,000-1,700 teu with the maiden voyage made by the 1,714 teu BOX ENDEAVOUR at Jakarta on 8 November.

Zhejiang Xiehai deploys modified containership on Taizhou-Valparaiso reefer service

Zhejiang Xiehai has launched a new container service connecting Taizhou and Valparaiso using the 1,728 teu XH DOLPHIN. Xiehai has acquired the 2013 built ship formerly named CERINTHUS from Hadley Shipping in May 2023 for $17.3m. The ship was modified at COSCO Zhoushan from 6 June to 8 November 2023 to become a fully air-cooled refrigerated containership. SeaLead will launch a new Red Sea Service connecting Jeddah, Djibouti, Hodeidah, Jeddah from mid December 2023 with the 1,732 teu HAIAN WEST. The service will turn in 18-28 days using a single ship initially on an irregular frequency due to congestion at Hodeidah.

MSC adds Torogoz Feeder service

MSC has launched a new Torogoz Feeder service connecting Balboa, Acajutla, Puerto Quetzal, Balboa using the 1,878 teu MSC DIAMOND II. The service has been in operation since July 2023, and operates on a 2-3 week rotation on an irregular frequency.

MSC revise Santana service rotation

MSC will revise the port rotation of the Far East-US East Coast Santana service from 2 December 2023 to call at Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Qingdao, Busan, Manzanillo, Cristobal, Caucedo, New York, Yantian. The revised service will turn in 11 weeks on a 77 day rotation and will deploy up to 11 neo-panamax ships of 13,000-15,000 teu. The new rotation will omit previous calls at Laem Chabang, Cai Mep and Norfolk while adding a new call at Yantian.

COSCO/OOCL launch UAE-India Sub-Continent Gulf 2 (UIG2) service

COSCO and OOCL have introduced a new UAE-India Sub-Continent Gulf 2 (UIG2) service calling at Nhava Sheva, Hazira, Mundra, Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali, Sharjah, Khalifa bin Salman, Abu Dhabi, Sohar, Nhava Sheva from 22 November 2023. The service replaces the current Asia Gulf India 2 (AGI2) service that calls at Singapore, Mundra, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Hamad, Khalifa bin Salman, Abu Dhabi, Singapore. X-Press Feeders has launched a new Panama Venezuela X-Press (PVX) service connecting Manzanillo (Pan), Cartagena, La Guaira, Puerto Cabello, Manzanillo (Pan) from 15 November 2023 with the 2,526 teu CALLIOPE. The service turns in 14 days with a fortnightly frequency initially using 1 ship.

Sinokor launch PCI2 service

Sinokor has launched a new Pusan-China-Indonesia 2 (PCI2) service connecting Busan, Kwangyang, Singapore, Jakarta, Haiphong, Shekou, Shantou, Xiamen, Incheon, Ulsan, Busan from 22 November 2023 using 4 ships of 1,800-2,100 teu (MANILA VOYAGER 2105 teu, BRIGHT COSMOS 1911, SAWASDEE VEGA 1809, SAWASDEE MIMOSA 1809 teu). The service will replace the former Korea Indonesia 2 (KI2) service that was operated jointly by Sinokor with HMM and KMTC that was withdrawn in October 2023.
